Lupin III - First Series Episode 1

Is Lupin Burning...?!

Okay, so the main bad guy in this episode is a guy called Scorpion, who runs a group also called Scorpion. He is obviously very rich and has way too much time on his hands. His goal is to kill Lupin and the Lupin Empire. So, does he hire a ton of guys to randomly shoot at him with machine guns and rocket launchers? (Since nobody could survive that, if you had enough people shooting.) Oh no, nothing like that, for Scorpion is a brilliant man with a brilliant plan. How brilliant? Brilliant.

He spends five billion dollars and five years to build this race track. Then, acting as a member of some racing organization, he invites Lupin to participate. But wait, the whole race is faked, down to the replica race cars. And it's also boobie trapped. See? I told you it was brilliant.

So, Lupin goes to the race while Fujiko sneaks into the hotel where Scorpion is having a meeting. It is there where we learn of Scorpions devious and brilliant plan. Oh yeah, he also has hundreds of cameras placed around the track so he can closely watch Lupin's death.

Of course, Fujiko gets caught and strapped to a table or something where she is fondled, not by Scorpions hands, but by a backscratcher with a hand on the end. Wow, that's evil... Fujiko is also caught so Scorpion can blab about his whole plan to her, which he then decides to kill Fujiko after she watches Lupin die. And to be way more evil, he rips her shirt open with the backscratcher. Sometime later in the episode small mechanical hands pop out of the table around Fujiko and they proceed to *gasp* tickle her! -covers the children's eyes-

Lupin is racing around doing racing things and for some odd reason Zenigata is following him, in a race car, of course. I guess he wants to invent a new extreme sport, Speed Arrest. -shrugs- Then Lupin and Jigen talk through microphone thingies about their plan. Suddenly, like ten tons of oil spills onto the track, both Lupin and Zenigata maneuvering well through it.

Scorpion says it was made to look like an accident, as if huge oil spills are common on race tracks, and then says it was just a minor test for Lupin. If you want to kill a guy, would you be giving him little tests to get through? Tanks, grenades, rocket launchers, bombs dropped from airplanes, something! Dude! But, Scorpion must know what he's doing, since he wasted five billion and five years on this brilliance...

More brilliance ensues as logs roll down a slope in front of Lupin's car. Oh noes, Lupin, look out! Both Lupin and Zenigata get through it one way or another. Speed Arrest must prevail!

So then we find out that Lupin's watch is more fancier than Jigen's and their plan comes into play. This is where Scorpion and the others either go blind or they forgot to put cameras on a long stretch of track. (What if Lupin had died there? Scorpion would be crushed...) Jigen drives a car similar to Lupin's down a slope to the track as Lupin drives down a slope off the track. It is then we behold a miracle, as they all get their vision back and continue watching Jigen disguised as Lupin as he drives.

Lupin then fulfills his lifes dream and becomes a plumber, defeating Bowser and saving the princess. And then he enters the hotel where Scorpion is and floods the place. Scorpion must be horrified of water because as the room he's in fills with it he shouts out "Wa...water?!" and then demands the door be closed, as if that would help any. People get electrocuted and Scorpion's brilliant plan is crushed. Oh woe is him...

After Fujiko's rescue, Lupin and Jigen once again switch places, the race going on and stuff happening. It then ends with explosions galore and a beat and battered Scorpion looking down at the explosions as he yells something about Lupin burning. And then Zenigata arrests a car.

My Favorite Subtitle: He is a very careful man card. (Scorpion talking about Lupin after going on about how he had invited him to the race.)
