Lupin III - First Series Episode 7

A Wolf Calls a Wolf

Lupin is busy training with a sword, trying to cut stuff and failing. He then moves on to something more difficult and tries to chop and kick apart statues. He fails again and ends up in bandages.

Jigen is laying on the couch wherever it is they are staying, a newspaper over his face as he resumes his role of lazy bum. Being the good friend he is, he tells Lupin to stop before he ends up in the hospital.

His kindness doesn't get him far, though, as an angry Lupin flings a knife at him. It's a magical knife, though, as it flies above the paper, but somehow catches it enough to pin it to the couch.

It then gets to the whole explaining part, which always ends up being really odd conversation. The manual to make the zantetsuken was stolen and Lupin wants it back to bring honor to the Lupin name. Or something like that.

Stunning dramatic scenes then follow. Goemon sits meditating while birds fly over him. (Does he know some special bird poop cutting technique? The world needs to know.) Intertwined in this scene is one of Lupin driving, heading to some tryout thing that Goemon is teaching.

Lupin spies on one of the contestants. (Why does this guy have his hand down his pants? Gross...) Lupin knocks the guy out and takes his place, putting on the guys wonderfully matching clothes.

The five candidates kneel down before Goemon and say their names and then sit in a room while each does their fighting thing.

Lupin is lying down with a magazine over his face (resuming Jigen's role) and he looks around at one contestants breasts through the hole he has cut in the magazine. He eventually almost ends up in her lap as he gets an up close and personal look at them. (It's like some crazy magical power she has to draw perverted men to her breasts like a magnet.) He then thinks she's Fujiko and she pulls out a knife and tries to take his head off.

The first three contestants fail. It is then the woman's turn and she passes, getting to sit next to Goemon and flirt with him, which he doesn't even seem to notice. Lupin comes up next and sees this, getting hurt that she is with Goemon. Lupin screams out "I love you so much!" as his oppenent comes up behind him, quickly defeating him with his powerful yell. Goemon is impressed by this so much that he jumps up and knocks Lupin out with his sword. Lupin faints, but not before putting a listening device in the shape of a ladybug on Goemon. (Ladybug! I want one!)

Some guy meets with Goemon and they go places and see things. The guy then kills a bird. (That was so much better done in the manga...) Goemon is then told that Lupin is there. Goemon replies that he will kill Lupin.

And so, now that Lupin is found out, he ditches the awful outfit and goes back to his cooler normal outfit. He sneaks around and ends up in the woman's room. Stepping on caltrops, he screams and hops around, which leads him to find out that the woman is in fact Fujiko, who is after the manual and is working with the other candidates to get it. Lupin is then smashed in the back of the head (which oddly gives him a black eye) and knocked out as Fujiko does her stealing thing. Guns and grenades are dropped from a plane and she and the others go nuts and start their killing spree. They wind up in a cavernous vault the scrolls (ooh, now they're referred to as scrolls...) are in. Oh wait, now they're secret scrolls. Goemon is there to meet them, deflects all their bullets, cuts through the gunmen and ends up standing with his sword to Fujiko's neck.

And then after all that awesome killing action, Goemon reverts back to a girl and says he doesn't kill women and lets Fujiko go.

Lupin ends up with the scrolls, oh, sorry, the secret scrolls, and they end up not so secret as they wind up being sticks of dynamite, which he throws to blow open a path to where the evil bird killer is sleeping. Bird Killer has a sword to Lupin's throat and tells him how twenty five years ago he let his guard down and was defeated by Lupin II, which started his obsession with wanting the famous steel cutting sword so he could get his revenge and defeat him. He was then able to steal the secret of the sword from Lupin II (he must have sucked to let Bird Killer steal something from him) which started his downfall in life. (Aw, poor guy...)

Goemon shows up, saying how Lupin and Bird Killer should duel and the winner will get the scrolls. So, Lupin shows up for the duel in armor from the waist up and a helmet. He lowers the visor, which makes Bird Killer nervous for some reason. The battle starts as Lupin's bullets are blocked by Bird Killer, who runs at Lupin and slices the helmet in half. (Take that, offensive and scary helmet!) Lupin decides to run and then runs around and around a tree, Bird Killer stupidly chasing him the whole time. Lupin enjoys this and then makes a weight fall on Bird Killer and then finally making him fall into a hole.

Lupin declares himself the winner and goes to take the scrolls, but they end up being taken by Fujiko. Goemon walks up and gives Lupin the real scrolls (how many fakes do they have lying around?) and then says he and Lupin will battle before leaving.

Goemon sends Lupin a letter and they meet. Lupin tells Goemon not to get near him and Goemon doesn't listen and falls into a hole. Lupin then says he was warning Goemon out of kindness and it seems the two are all buddy buddy. But then Lupin and Jigen are out driving and Goemon stands in front of the car, so Lupin decides to just run him over. Goemon cuts the car in half, which angers Lupin, who chases after Goemon in half a car. It then ends in a disturbing manner, with Lupin and Goemon laughing way too hard at absolutely nothing and sitting together on a hill as they continue to laugh, ending up friends after that really odd chase.
