Lupin III - First Series Episode 10

Hunt Down the Counterfeiter! Two guys are driving and Lupin and Jigen jump in front of their car and start lobbing dynamite at them. The car blows up and they steal a suitcase filled with money. (Bundles of tens, at that. I'd hate to know what methods they would use to steal a suitcase filled with hundreds...) Lupin and Jigen are flying in a plane, Jigen with his leg hanging out of it, which I don't think is very safe. The money was counterfeit and Lupin says he hates bad counterfeits, so Jigen dumps them over a city, where even the people snatching them from the air realize they are fakes. A guy with a stunning blond pompadour (who scares me as he looks like Lupin and Zenigata's love child in a blond wig) is all angry and asks some bald guy (Gah! He looks like another love child. A bald love child...who squints...) to kill Lupin. Bald guy suggests Fujiko, as she is a better assassin than him. Fujiko enters the room as if on cue and tells them Lupin is looking for Kela,

Lupin III - First Series Episode 9

Killer Sings the Blues A plane comes in to Tokyo and some guy who wears his sunglasses at night (so he can keep track of the visions in his eyes) meets another guy inside the airport. The one guy says he needs sunglasses man (or Big Bro) to protect his warehouse o' goods from Lupin, but Big Bro declines, saying he's been looking for some girl (who of course is Fujiko) for three years to settle things. Lupin is out riding with Fujiko (who is driving a Triumph, since they felt it so important for Lupin to point out what kind of car it was) and she agrees on the job to steal the stuff in the warehouse o' goods. And then they go on about how they love each other. Aww... Jigen and Goemon are angry because Lupin is late and then they get even angrier when he shows up with Fujiko. In his anger Goemon cuts the table in front of him into pieces. (I like his "I'm angry!" -slicesliceslice- thing, especially since he usually whines about cutting worthless objects.) He

Lupin III - First Series Episode 8

The All-Together Playing-Card Operation Goemon is finally in the group (his joining them was better told in the manga) as they go after Mr. Gold's gold, Mr. Gold shown sitting around way too much of it. Mr. Gold holds up a deck and kisses it, saying he owes his gold to the deck. Lupin calls him to say he will steal the deck of Napoleon cards and Mr. Gold laughs. We then see Mr. Gold's casino surrounded by cops, of course led by Zenigata, who, as always, invites himself in and tells Mr. Gold to stop the party he is throwing for his birthday (Party crasher!) , but Mr. Gold says he won't and then shows off the Napoleon cards to everyone. He tells how Napoleon owned them and then brags about the French army (The invincible French army? Hah!) before continuing about how Napoleon used the cards to decide whether he should go on with the battle against Russia. But before Napoleon could read them a gust of wind came and blew them all away, taking their good luck with them and le

Lupin III - First Series Episode 7

A Wolf Calls a Wolf Lupin is busy training with a sword, trying to cut stuff and failing. He then moves on to something more difficult and tries to chop and kick apart statues. He fails again and ends up in bandages. Jigen is laying on the couch wherever it is they are staying, a newspaper over his face as he resumes his role of lazy bum. Being the good friend he is, he tells Lupin to stop before he ends up in the hospital. His kindness doesn't get him far, though, as an angry Lupin flings a knife at him. It's a magical knife, though, as it flies above the paper, but somehow catches it enough to pin it to the couch. It then gets to the whole explaining part, which always ends up being really odd conversation. The manual to make the zantetsuken was stolen and Lupin wants it back to bring honor to the Lupin name. Or something like that. Stunning dramatic scenes then follow. Goemon sits meditating while birds fly over him. (Does he know some special bird poop cutting techniq

Lupin III - First Series Episode 6

Rainy Afternoons Are Bad Lupin is running to a house in the pouring rain. Jigen is there and notices a piece of paper on Lupin's back. (Which would be so messed up with all that rain pouring on it...) A man then comes to the door, saying he's there to pick Lupin up. The man says he is known as "child's menu". Jigen then says he doesn't look delicious. (....eww) But the guy has something to do with the note, saying a lady needs his help. (So, he puts a note on Lupin's back and then comes to get him? Seems kind of strange...) Lupin is driven to a huge house. Of course when he enters Fujiko is there. She tells Lupin that she needs to know why some ugly guy has amnesia and who he is. Jigen talks about how he can't get himself to like Fujiko as he and Lupin walk. A car comes towards them, shooting at them. Lupin gets hit, but it's only a scratch. (Your arms off!) The car then gets blown up. Lupin gets his flesh wound treated and the doctor just hap

Lupin III - First Series Episode 5

The Coming of Goemon the Thirteenth This is the episode where we finally meet Goemon. And right off he displays that he can survive those treacherous times in life when huge axes fly at you and heavy weights drop from above. (I hate when that happens. It always ruins the whole day...) Lupin is sporting stunning glasses, his only disguise as he casts himself as "executive producer of Hero Productions" there to "bring heroes together" for events. (Cue that magical bringing heroes together music.) And Jigen is with him as the American gunman who wants to challenge Goemon. Goemon goes along with it and ends up blocking all of Jigens bullets. Lupin and Jigen then look kind of scared, as they should be. (Little did they know that years later they would be hanging around with Emo Goemon.) It then cuts to Lupin talking to Goemon about the sword. Goemon is kind enough to tell us the history of the sword (It cuts whole buildings in half, isn't that good enough?) and t

Lupin III - First Series Episode 4

One Chance To Breakout Lupin starts off by playing the role of a racist and goes all blackface. He then sneaks somewhere to get a metal box, which is hooked to something. And then, because he can, Zenigata appears and shoots at Lupin, hitting him. Jigen then hooks the box to a helicopter and flies away, leaving Lupin behind, who ended up getting shot with sleeping....bullets....or something. Lupin starts playing odd mind games on Zenigata as they head to the prison. Once they arrive at the prison, Lupin and Zenigata have this odd and out of place conversation to explain to the viewer about the different route the car took to the prison and all of that stuff. Zenigata then has a little bit too much fun, telling the guards to fit Lupin in a straight jacket. Then he tells them to watch Lupin carefully until the execution. (He seems a little too overjoyed at the whole execution thing, too.) Lupin then starts yelling about how he isn't Lupin and how random guards are really Lupin.

Lupin III - First Series Episode 3

Farewell My Beloved Witch So, Linda the "witch". How she's a witch, I have absolutely no idea. But, they say she is, so I guess she is... Anyway, Lupin and Fujiko are on a boat, speeding off to nowhere. Fujiko takes Lupin's gun and shoots it at a boat coming towards them. (That was...odd...) It veers off towards an island and crashes. And then, as in any action adventure, the boat hits the rocks and explodes in a huge fireball. And then like any other realistic show, the person in the boat somehow lives. Lupin jumps out of the boat and swims to the island, towards the explosion. He sees a woman, of course, and approaches her. Fujiko dumps Lupin and takes off while he chats with the woman, Linda. And then another boat comes by and starts to shoot at them. The shooter is quickly shot by Jigen, who is somehow mysteriously there. It turns out there's a group of killers, appropriately named Killer of Killers (These bad guy groups have no creativity...) who are som

Lupin III - First Series Episode 2

The Man They Called a Magician This is the episode with Pycal, who in the subtitles was referred to as Piker, which is lame. So, Pycal is sleeping in bed in stunning designer pajamas when two guys very rudely barge in and shoot him like a bajillion times with machine guns. Pycal twitches as he is shot and falls to the floor. The guys leave, but Pycal is still alive. Fujiko is still everygirl, appearing before Lupin and Jigen in a mess o' flames, being rescued and taken in. It is then when we learn that Lupin gets hives from octopi. And, in complete sissy manner, he runs from one. Right.... Pycal then appears where the three are, burns Jigen and Lupin, gets shot, shot again, slaps Fujiko to the floor (Awesome!), shoots out more flames and then leaves with a knocked out Fujiko. Oh yeah, Pycal shoots flames out of his finger. Bullets don't do anything to him, either. And later on he floats. Back at Pycal's stunning cabin, which sits near a river and a waterfall, Fujiko mak

Lupin III - First Series Episode 1

Is Lupin Burning...?! Okay, so the main bad guy in this episode is a guy called Scorpion, who runs a group also called Scorpion. He is obviously very rich and has way too much time on his hands. His goal is to kill Lupin and the Lupin Empire. So, does he hire a ton of guys to randomly shoot at him with machine guns and rocket launchers? (Since nobody could survive that, if you had enough people shooting.) Oh no, nothing like that, for Scorpion is a brilliant man with a brilliant plan. How brilliant?  Brilliant . He spends five billion dollars and five years to build this race track. Then, acting as a member of some racing organization, he invites Lupin to participate. But wait, the whole race is faked, down to the replica race cars. And it's also boobie trapped. See? I told you it was brilliant. So, Lupin goes to the race while Fujiko sneaks into the hotel where Scorpion is having a meeting. It is there where we learn of Scorpions devious and brilliant plan. Oh yeah, he also ha
